City of Peck – Upcoming Maintenance Projects

City of Peck is committed to improving local infrastructure and public spaces. Our maintenance and water departments together will be undertaking the following projects (See list below) sometime in the near future to enhance water management, road safety, and community facilities while trying to safeguard and preserve personal property within the City of Peck. It will also speed up our availability to respond to emergencies

These improvement projects will be carried out gradually, and not necessarily in the order listed. Progress will depend on factors such as weather conditions and unforeseen events.

Equipment Purchase

The city has evaluated whether to rent or purchase the necessary machinery for these projects and future projects, considering both cost and practicality. After evaluating the projected scope and duration of the upcoming maintenance projects, the City of Peck determined that renting excavation equipment would result in exorbitant and ongoing costs. In order to be fiscally responsible and make the best use of public funds, the city elected to purchase a 2024 CAT 303.5 excavator instead of continuing to rent equipment. This purchase will reduce long-term expenses, increase scheduling flexibility, and improve the city’s ability to complete maintenance projects efficiently while also enhancing readiness for emergency response.

Planned Upcoming Projects:

• Replace all culvert(s) on Park Street
• Construct ditch(es) below and above Park Street
• Construct ditch(es) on May Street
• Construct ditch(es) on Elwood Street
• Construct ditch(es) on Pine Street
• Construct ditch(es) behind City Hall
• Construct ditch(es) on New Melrose Street
• Construct ditch(es) on Old Melrose Street
• Construct ditch(es) on the Water Plant Road
• Construct ditch(es) at the Water Treatment Plant
• Conduct repairs to address potholes on Marion Street, Pine Street and Belle Street.
• Perform needed maintenance to the current ditch(es) on Canfield Street
• Conduct repairs and/or replace the water valves within streets (2-3, 8, 12)
• Develop May Street to Elwood Street
• Thorough completion of the water leak repair on Park Street
• Place culvert(s) at various locations along Pine Street
• Conduct repairs to the City of Peck’s storage lot
• Remove the sidewalk located on the east side of Main Street
